Our History
Our first formal resuscitation and medical emergency management training took place in LUTH in 1992. Ever since then, we have been training doctors, nurses and the general public in Emergency/Resuscitation care at various levels and across the Western/Central Africa regions and beyond.
Advanced Trauma Life Support
This program was brought into the country by the combined effort of the Emergency Response International and Nigerian Orthopedic Association (NOA) under the sponsorship of Emergency Response Group. Nigeria became the second in Africa to promulgate ATLS. It is owned and exported by the American College of Surgeons. ATLS is the current global gold stand in trauma management training and has reduced mortality associated with Trauma by as much as 30%. ATLS is for only doctors especially those who attend to emergencies. Port Harcourt is currently the only available training center in Nigeria. Lagos city and Abuja centers will soon be revalidated.
